At the end of february I visited Antwerp with my fiance to celebrate our anniversary and because we're both extremely picky with everything we decided based on the excellent reviews to choose JVR 108 as our place to stay. We were not disappointed! At arrival we were warmly welcomed and got all the instructions. The place is amazingly decorated with a great attention to detail, the marble bathroom is exquisite, the beds offer the best and most comfortable sleep we've ever had on the softest linen. For our breakfast we got asked if we had any allergies, which we both did have and got offered gluten free bread, which was very considerate. Every single detail of our stay was impecable, tasteful and elegant and we can't give JVR108 enough praise. We hope to return here in the future and highly recommend it to everyone.

We stayed 3 nights at JVR and was more than happy with the place. The room we had was located at the top of the house I.e. you had to climb a lot of stairs, but that gives you good exercise which is needed in Antwerp with all good food! Everything in the house is of the best quality. The owner, Philippe, was very welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was very fresh and had everything you need. The guy who took care of the breakfast was brilliant, thanks Daniel!|The guest house is a bit far from the centre but there is a Tram just outside that takes you down there. Free WiFi with fast speed. You can also walk to the Middelheim park and Museum which is worth a visit.|We can highly recommend JVR if you plan to visit Antwerp.

One of the nicest stays my girlfried and I ever had. Went to Antwerpen to see Andrea Bocelli and wanted something that kind of matched the event. Something special. And boy, was that special. Every aspect of the place is so nicely fashioned. The sense of style this is all put together with is a joy and the service is immaculate. We had a phantastic time and enjoyed every minute there. Breakfast was awesome! It might not be too close to the city centre, but it is very well connected to public transportation. I'd stay there again any time!!

We had a beautiful 3 night stay at Antwerp in this luxurious guesthouse. The hosts were extremely helpful with our needs. This stylish guesthouse is located very conveniently near parks and within 30 mins walk to the city centre. The room is stylishly decorated and the bed is one of the most comfortable beds we slept in. You can tell the hosts paid attention to every detail in its interior design. Thank you for giving us advice re. looking around Antwerp and a great recommendation for a wonderful hairdresser. For visitors who have difficulty with stairs, you might want to advise the hosts to give you a room with a lower floor as there is no lift. However we had no issues and having a higher floor gave us more privacy.

Located in the residential part of Antwerp located about 12min drive from town centre. Parking is a problem. There’s only street parking and you can’t park in front of other residents’ door or garage. Be warned there is no elevator so we had to carry our luggages and climb the stairs to the 3rd floor. Room is nicely decorated and felt like home. Also the owner disallowed eating in the room. Overall nice clean room with antique feel furnishings. However, too much hassle to want to stay here again.

Let me put this review in sequence.||We arrived much earlier than check in time due to our travel schedule. Decided to head straight for JVR108 in the hope pf leaving our bags prior to doing some much needed washing. The property is a 10 min taxi ride into the suburbs, nonetheless in a good area of Antwerp. On arrival we rang the doorbell without success. Next step, make a phone call. No luck there either as all calls go to an answering machine in, I'm guessing, Flemish. Just as we were contemplating an extended wait on the footpath in an increasingly hot sun, a lovely Dutch lady on a bike noticed our plight and stopped to assist. She was a near neighbour and was well acquainted with our hosts. She was able to introduce us to a young lady in an office just two doors away who immediately took over the check in. (It was unclear whether she worked for the property but she seemed to know her way around the business) She was able to provide us with a key to the room where we deposited our bags prior to enquiring about a laundromat. It was then that a housemaid appeared and, despite a paucity of English, discerned that we were having difficulty understanding the route to the laundry. She immediately took over (apparently she had just completed her duties at the guest house) guided us to the light rail station just 150m away and proceeded to accompany us for the four stops to the laundry. Three wonderful women had rescued us!!||With a bag full of clean clothes we returned to JVR108 and decided to take a nap (it was mid afternoon by that stage) ||The house is absolutely beautiful. Stunning decor and beautifully decorated with artworks that usually belong in the finest galleries. Magnificent garden at the rear with the only downside....the stairs!! Still we've stayed in places like this before and assistance with the bags up three flights is always provided. Except here!! Still we're a couple of reasonably fit 70 year olds but with baggage enough for a six week European sojourn it's a bit of a test.||No sign of our hosts so we decided to take a pre dinner afternoon nap.The beds are beautiful with only the best in linen and the marble bathroom spectacular.||I'm unsure how long we were asleep until raised voices emanated from somewhere else in the house. In my semi conscious state, the next sound was someone knocking on our door, followed immediately by our door being opened by a minimally clad male (briefs only) followed by a quick "ohhh" when he saw us arising from the bed. ||Now, very much awake, we attempted to discern what was going on. After discussing a few theories, some not fit for Trip Advisor clientele, we turned on the TV to watch a World Cup game. The TV is quite tiny by modern standards but adequate, however channel surfing was a chore. The only available ones showing the football were in Dutch (I think) with English speaking channels not tuned in on this service. It was then that the proprietor, Phillip, knocked on the door and introduced himself (sort of). I had been informed earlier in the day that he was in the US, due to return that day. But when he saw us, I gained the distinct impression that he was not expecting us and had been tipped off by the guy in the jocks. I asked him who it was that opened our door earlier and he said that was another Phillip who worked there. This was beginning to feel very weird.||He asked to come in and show us how to operate the shutters.OK this is better I'm thinking and asked him how to get the TV channels I was after. He did not know and phoned somebody before telling me that the guy who understands the TV system will be here tomorrow. Not really helpful when we wanted to see England v Colombia that night!!! ||Now JVR108 only has four bedrooms and it turns out that we are the only guests for our two night stay. Under these circumstances we might have expected to be showered with attention. But no, this was quite the opposite. No small talk, no how are you, no so what country are you from, are you enjoying Europe, where have you been so far? This is a proprietor with zero personality, despite reviews we had read prior to arrival. Maybe we caught him at a bad time. Maybe that's what all the shouting was about because we experienced another episode the following afternoon. Again, I mention that we were the only guests so the yelling can be attributed to just one person.||This should have been a five star experience, beautiful property, fabulous bed, very comfortable room, lovely breakfast, great young Mexican guy looking after us at breakfast, excellent location but the proprietor's personality reduces it to two. ||Oh, he did decide to drop the breakfast charge because of the TV experience but to top things off, we met on the stairs on the way out and he was nice enough to enquire about our next destination, but watched on as we struggled to the stairs with our bags!!!!||I hope for future guests he just having a very bad day (or two)
